I never post more than once a day. But, this was just sent my way: Will Physical Books Be Gone in Five Years?
Allow me to point out a choice nugget of stupidity: “We put 100 books on a laptop, but we also send 100 laptops. That village now has 10,000 books.” No, you have 100 copies of 100 books, not 10,000 unique titles. Throw a number like 10,000 out there, and people think we’re building libraries.
[Honestly, I’m tired of the five year mentality that has become so pervasive in tech circles. Print books will be dead in 5 years. Desktops will cease to exist in 5 years. CD sales will stop in 5 years. And so it goes. Society can have the old technology until some date in the near future when the new technology reaches ascendancy. Well, a television may be in every household, but the radio still plays, if you catch my drift.]
